Telly Land!

Hello friends

I've been AWOL for a few days due to being a busy bee
in TV land.  Yesterday I did two shows at The Craft Channel,
each one lasting two hours so that was quite a lot of demo prep.

Pleased to say it all went well and if you was able to tune in
thank you so much.

Here's some photos of the day...

My helper/assistant doing some frantic die cutting between shows!

And a shot you may not be quite so familiar with - how all the cameras
look from inside the gallery.

I got to do both shows with Dave Bradford and
we remembered that we had worked together many years ago.

So a quick post but I promise to share some projects with you
once I get them photographed.

Take care friends and I do hope your week is going well.

Friday Die Day

Hello friends

This week I'm featuring butterflies...what's not to love?!
The set is Cascading Butterflies designed by Donna Salazar for Spellbinders.

It comes as a one piece die measuring approximately 4.10 x 6.10 in.

When cut/embossed you have an outer butterfly frame
as well as all the individual different sized butterflies.

I've chosen to make a tag and using the die and embossing only
to imprint the beautiful design.

I've then taken an assortment of the butterflies and over-layed them
onto their matching impression.
My paper is a scrap box find - I'd like to say I'm getting through
my scraps but it may take a few more years yet!

Stamped 'thank you' to the corner, twine tied and little gemstones added.
Finished!

Cascading Butterflies is available to purchase from your Spellbinders
retailer - also look out for Cascading Stars and Circles -
all equally lovely.

Tomorrow you can find me at The Art of Craft in Farnborough, Hampshire.
I'm doing a workshop in the morning and demo in the afternoon.
As always, if you live that way please pop along and say hello.

Take care friends - have a smashing weekend!

Revisiting a Tuesday Tip/Technique!

Hello friends

As it's Tuesday I thought it might be nice to revisit one of my
previous Tuesday Tip/Techniques.
At my demos I often talk about this tip.
Have you ever looked around your home for different things to die cut?
Books maybe?
Look away if you are offended by cutting up old books - I know many of you may think
this is bordering on criminal!
In my defence, I have just the one - Charles Dickens that I purchased in a charity shop
and I return to it for my projects, so it is a form of recycling....honest!

I think this works particularly well with flower dies, this is Aster Flower Topper
but it could work with many Spellbinders flower dies.
Also using Distress Inks to stencil through makes a real difference.

Layer up your flower with 3D Foam Squares.

You may want to be selective about the pages you cut -
it appears I should have taken a lot more notice of the wording!

If you want to avoid cutting a book, type out script onto coloured card/paper
and die cut - perhaps it could be a message - Happy Birthday, Get Well Soon etc.

I'm busy preparing today for some TV work next week...
I will keep you posted.

Take care friends.

This is also appearing on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog
with a full step by step tutorial - all the details are here.

I've featured a lot of handy adhesive products as well as Spellbinders dies -

Pleased to find paper with clocks/watches - my Dad has a penchant for those!

Take care friends and hope you are having a lovely Sunday.

Friday Die Day

Hello friends

This week's Friday Die Day is featuring Frame of Mind.
A die set with a wonderful selection of stamps.
The approximate measurements are as follows:

Frame Die: 1.90 x 3.10 in
Make it Beautiful Stamp: 1.40 x 2.50 in
Love Stamp: 0.80 x 1.70 in
Be Brave Stamp: 0.30 x 2.00 in
Hello Stamp: 0.90 x 1.80 in
The World is… Stamp: 1.10 x 1.50 in
This is a more detailed look at the stamps and the frame die.

I've cut/embossed and stamped 'Hello' to the middle.

My card base has been embossed with Enchanted Embossing Folder
and I've created a Blooms One flower.

I added a strip of patterned ribbon and a narrow mat of coordinating pink card
behind the stamped frame.

Frame of Mind is available now from your Spellbinders retailer.
As I've mentioned many times before I'm not a stamper but I find these
stamps really easy to use and the image is crisp.

Tomorrow you can find me at PDA Card and Craft, Langley Mill, Derbyshire.
I will be there from 10am demoing Spellbinders, if you live that way
please stop by to say hello...well, let's have a good natter actually!

Take care friends - have a perfectly lovely weekend.

Telly and Other Stuff!

Hello friends

When I was at The Craft Channel earlier this month I pre-recorded
a show which went out on Tuesday morning.  I only got the heads up
that day so I speedily mentioned it on Facebook and Twitter.
It is still possible to watch online via their catch up
(you can go back 7 days) the link is here and it is the Spellbinders show
11am, Tuesday 14 June.

Here I am with the lovely Debbie Greenwood.
You can tell it was earlier this month because my hair is no longer straight..
I've now gone wavy!

I should be returning to The Craft Channel next month so more shows
and this time live - I will keep you posted.

Yesterday's post I talked about the Prizm machine.

Few questions with regards to whether it is like the Sapphire.
It’s built to similar spec as the Sapphire machine.
The Prizm features a more contemporary design.

Based on the 2.5 inch opening neither machine needs metal gears and will
cut the most intricate of dies within the opening.
The plates are consistent and the same size.

As regards what dies will fit, pretty much all the Spellbinders S1 and S2 dies
are compatible with Prizm, that's the Die D-Lites.

Hope that helps.  I have one on my craft desk with all my sentiment and little
flower dies on a magnetic sheet, it's SO handy!

Take care friends and please stop by tomorrow for FDD.

Make A Wish

Hello friends

You may have seen some news, posts etc regarding Spellbinders
new Prizm machine.  Mine arrived this week and I was keen to
start using it.
It comes with all the plates you need for cutting and embossing,
instructions - no assembly required, ready to go!
The photo doesn't really do it justice, the body of the machine
is glass-like faceted...prizm!

It's a small format machine and ideal to have on your craft
desk for speed and convenience.  Despite it having smaller plates
I was really surprised that you can fit quite a lot of sized dies on there.

This is a Die D-Lite Make A Wish.

It works just like the Grand Calibur sandwich.

My very simple speedy card.

The Prizm is available to purchase from your Spellbinders retailers now,
it's pricing is very reasonable, so perfect for as a start up machine,
a travel companion or just to keep by your side for convenience on your desk.

Take care friends.

The International Ambassadors Are Blog Hopping!

Hello friends

Some of the Spellbinders International Ambassadors are having an

informal blog hop and this time we have chosen to use dies from
Seth Apter's - The Altered Page collection
Seth is a designer for Spellbinders based in New York,
his style is perfect for those who like mixed media and his designs
work so well if you are making cards for gentlemen.

For my card I chose to use Robo Bars.

My design features black card with a combination of silver and patterned
paper rummaged from my scrapbox.

The charm with black twine adds a finishing touch.

There is also Robo Ring, Square and Star along with other
very interesting dies in this collection.

For more  inspirational projects please hop along to my fellow
Ambassadors' blogs -  have fun!

Christine Emberson (You are here)

Thanks so much for stopping by.
We will be back with more!

With Love Gatefold

Hello friends

Today sharing a card that has been featured on the
Spellbinders blog earlier this week.

It features the rather lovely Botanical Bliss Heart.
The interchangeable heart in the middle is so handy.

I chose to create a gatefold card and sliced the die cuts in
half to feature on each side of the front panels.
I rarely make gatefold, it felt nice to revisit this design.

I've done a full step by step tutorial here if you fancy a nose! :)

Take care friends, I'm back crafting in the cabin and hope your
weekend is going well.

Friday Die Day

Hello friends

Today featuring another set of lovely dies and coordinating stamps
designed by Debi Adams for Spellbinders.
This set is called Happy Times.

The approximate measurements are:

Circle Die: 2.00 x 2.00 in
Banner Die: 0.80 x 1.10 in
You are a Natural Stamp: 0.70 x 1.00 in
Congrats Stamp: 0.30 x 1.20 in
Hip Hip Hooray Stamp: 0.60 x 1.00 in
Be Happy: 0.60 x 1.00 in
Best Wishes: 0.80 x 1.10 in

This is how they look cut/embossed.

I've chosen the 'be...happy' stamp and die cut with Standard Circles LG.
I like all the stamp sentiments in this set, think they'll be very useful.

My card base uses Pierced Rectangles and the patterned paper is
My Mind's Eye - Indie Chic, Nutmeg.

Using the kraft die cuts I've made a topper, added a little flower and leaf for colour.

The finished card.

Simple card and hopefully effective.

Happy Times is available now to purchase from your Spellbinders retailer.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Take care friends.
