The International Ambassadors are blog hopping!

Hello friends

  Some of the Spellbinders International Ambassadors are having an

informal blog hop and this time we have chosen as our theme...

boxes!  There are lots of new dies from Spellbinders featuring boxes,

I'm a huge fan of a gift box - so useful! 

For my project I've chosen to use the Contour Pillow Box steel rule die.

As this is a steel rule die it is possible to cut up to 8 layers in a single pass through the

Platinum machine.

For each box you cut two, I've used some double sided tape on the side flaps.

The die places the fold lines.

Pop the end flaps in and it's a perfect pillow box.

To decorate I've chosen looped twine and Shabby Posies topped with a button and

Shortie Tabs - these are new die designs from Spellbinder designer -

Tammy Tutterow - they are available to pre-order now from your 

Spellbinders retailer.

Simply tied with twine and the tag added.

Flowers added and created in different colours with stamped sentiments.

Charity Kit - April

Hello friends

Time to announce this month's Charity Kit and this time it is

a card featuring the beautiful Astoria Decorative Element dies.

A white and silver card with a deep red flower - Blooms One.

Those deep embossed leaves are from a new Die D-Lite

called Make A Wish.

All you need is adhesive, gemstone and your choice of sentiment stamp.

Hello friends

Last Saturday found me at Emerald Crafts in Lyndhurst -

the heart of the New Forest and one of my favourite places to visit.

It was a busy day with lots of visitors - big thanks to those who came along.

Lyndhurst is such a lovely village...

 complete with a rather nice pub too!

One of my chosen techniques to demo is inking the die.

This works well with solid dies - this one is Floral Heart Accent.

Place your die on a scrap piece of paper and pat liberally with an ink pad.

You can see it clings to all the raised areas.

Transfer it, ink side up, onto your base plate. 

Cover with a piece of card, cut/emboss.

This is the result, really effective, the ink remains in the de-bossed areas.

A finished card using this technique.

Could not leave the New Forest without stopping off and seeing the ponies.

 

That rather dubious sky did lead to a lot of rain!

Mirror Mirror!

Hello friends

 

Sharing a thank you tag today that I made for one of my demo sample books.

It features Swallowtail Pennants (Amazing Paper Grace Collection)

 

 

and also the Bow Helpers and Closures.

These are rather nifty dies that interlock.

 

I've used gold mirror card - I'm becoming rather partial to mirror card recently,

there was a time I passed it by but loving how the emboss detail comes through.

 

 

I've layered the Swallowtail Pennants (5 dies in the set so lots of tag options)

and used the same white card to cut Sprigs.

 

The little flowers are from an old die (Homespun set)

I keep this permanently on my desk as I love it!

So now thinking those closure dies would work well to replicate belts,

buckles, go across envelopes maybe - I can feel some experimenting coming on!

Friday Die Day

Hello friends

 

This week's Friday Die Day is featuring a very useful set of

Die D-Lites - Ferns.

 

The approximate measurements are:

 

Fern 1: 1.35 x 1.50 in
Fern 2: 1.35 x 1.50 in
Fern 3: 1.00 x 1.75 in
Fern 4: 1.00 x 2.5 in

 

This is how they look cut and embossed.

 

I've selected a pre-made mini luggage tag that already has a metal eyelet in place.

Positioned one of the Fern dies.

 

To ensure the eyelet runs through the Platinum machine I've positioned

it just slightly off the edge of my cutting plate.

This has created a nice die cut aperture in the tag.

I've placed some pretty spotty paper behind.

 

 

My card base is Pierced Rectangles.

 

Simply added a silver Hello cut from mirror card and using Phrase Set 2.

Finished card.

Interchanging the coloured paper could make the card seasonal.

A Gold and White Number!

Hello friends

Today sharing a gold and white number!

It's always a little tricky to photograph mirror card, it either looks dull or the

light bounces off, but when that happens it looks shiny!

This card is from my sample books (mounted onto white card) 

showing Stacey Caron's Art Deco line.

The die featured here is Arched Diamond, a strip die that I've chosen

to place vertically.  

A clean design with a white card base, gold border, white mat

and some strategically placed pearls...that took the longest time!

The detail is lovely and yes...very Art Deco.

This design also works wonderfully in black and white,

great for those men!
