Optical Illusion

Hello friends

Today's card is again a Geo die and this one is Optical Illusion.
It turned out to be one of the best sellers when I was doing the shows and
I think it is because of its traditional quilting shape.

I chose to use the frame and paper piece the middle section with dotted paper
and outer triangles with pearlised card.

It is sort of festive!
As mentioned, Geo dies are available at the moment from Create and Craft
and later from your Spellbinders retailer.

Had a lovely day yesterday with Mitchell, I don't think I will
ever tire of Harry Potter - it is pure escapism.

Not your regular school rule...

The very special platform.

And the impressive Hogwarts Express.

Me and my boy in Diagon Alley.

It was such a treat to take a day off, but today back to it as
lots of crafty deadlines.

I do hope your week is going well.

Take care friends.

Rhombus Borders

Hello friends

I'm trying to get back into posting more often on my blog so you never know
I may get back to daily posts!

Lots of thanks to those who have purchased this month's Charity Kit -
they do take time to prepare and I couldn't do it without Mum's help
but it's lovely to know they are well received.

Today's crafty offering is Rhombus Borders - one of the Geo dies.
I've adopted this card style with quite a few border dies where I slice
it vertically and separate with patterned paper.
Simple and yet effective.

The flower is Blooms One - another firm favourite of mine.
Card base and matting is 5 x 7 Matting Basics.

Today I'm taking a day off from craft and spending it with my eldest son,
Mitchell.  We are going to the Harry Potter studios -
he bought the tickets a while back and we've finally booked to go.
Now he no longer lives at home it feels like an extra special day.
As for Elliott he is working - I heard him say something about
lots of pre-loved dies being put on the website.... ;-)

Take care friends

The Only Way Is Up! And mini drama!

Hello friends

Pleased to report decorating ensued!
I do like the end result of home decorating but hate the process.
No amount of preparation, dust sheets seems to stop paint etc ending up everywhere.
Anyway, job done and I'm not intending to pick up a roller for quite some time.

We did have a mini drama - after dismantling a wardrobe and carrying outside
we didn't anticipate the front door slamming and locking us outside.
Can I just recommend a few things here - if you're locked out the
decorating clothes is not ideal - mine consisted of one of Mitchell's old
jumpers (covered in paint), very old joggers (covered in paint) and
fluffy slippers!  Not a great look when standing outside gazing at your home
and wondering what to do!  Also Bella was locked inside.
Thankfully a young man came to our rescue, he works in the little repair
garage in my road and he was able to climb through my conservatory window -
a window that is SMALL and I use it to vent my tumble dryer!
Bear that in mind everyone ...he was in my home within minutes so I'm not
leaving that window open again!

Decided my neighbour needs to keep a spare key - we live and learn!

So ... today's card is featuring Geo Pyramid.
I've kept the design very simple with matting and inserting
some patterned paper and a gold arrow (Die D-Lite Ornate Arrows).
The sentiment is typed, printed and die cut.

Geo dies available at the moment from Create and Craft.

My Pinterest button is back, received a few messages to say
it had disappeared again.  I ventured to correct this on my own,
entered the confusing world of HTML codes,
messed everything up and then cried "Elliott!"
For a short time the blog was going to have a new template/makeover but
all sorted now.  Phew!
So if you hover over an image you should be able to pin it to your Pinterest board.

Simple things often have a way of becoming very complicated.
Best I stick to cardmaking.

Take care friends and look out for the charity kit this week,
Mum has been die cutting!

Die Cutting and Adhesive Sheets

Hello friends

Today featuring a card that featured this week on the

I've done a tutorial showing how useful adhesive sheets are when
die cutting and affixing intricate shapes.

The die used is Holiday Botanical Strip and the little poinsettias are from the
5 x 7 Holly Frame die set.

Please feel free to pop over to the Scrapbook Adhesives blog
and if you would like to leave a comment there I would be very grateful.

Take care friends.

Friday Die Day

Hello friends

This week's Friday Die Day features Vintage Ornaments.
A four piece die set, three different designs of baubles and
the classic hook/topper.

The approximate measurements are:

Ornament 1: 2.10 x 2.30 in
Ornament 2: 2.00 x 2.80 in
Ornament 3: 2.00 x 3.00 in
Topper: 0.80 x 0.70 in

This is how they look cut/embossed.

I created a white card base.
Affixed a wide panel of decorative paper horizontally
and a strip of green dotted paper vertically.
Tied a piece of twine around before adhering in place onto the card front.

I then used one of the Spellbinders sentiment stamps for a bold message.

I die cut one bauble design from red foil card and the other from silver.
Mini Poinsettia from 5 x 7 Holly Frame die set.
Little leaves from Homespun die set.

Added a strip of candy stripe paper and positioned the baubles.
Love the embossing depth with foil card.

Vintage Ornaments is available to purchase from your Spellbinders
retailer now.

This weekend - HAVE to do the decorating, Elliott's new bed arrives on
Wednesday and we haven't even opened a paint pot!

Take care friends - have a great weekend and keep warm.

Geo Wagonwheel

Hello friends

I've been a little AWOL, this is because we've been sharing our home with
a nasty bug for the last couple of days - both Elliott and I have
been a tad under the weather but feeling a lot better now.
It was a good excuse to snuggle on the sofa with Bella -
she didn't mind at all!

Back to 'crafty normal' and sharing today a card using one of the Geo dies -
Wagonwheel.

A simple design using my faithful matting dies and then
foil card to create a shadow behind.
Stamped and die cut sentiment, twine and a tag with my signature little flower.

As mentioned, these Geo dies are available from Create and Craft
at the moment, retailers later.

Hope your week is going well and that you're getting used to the
darker evenings, always a shock the first few nights.

Take care friends.
