A lovely day and favourite technique!

Hello friends

Last Saturday found me at Emerald Crafts in Lyndhurst -
the heart of the New Forest and one of my favourite places to visit.
It was a busy day with lots of visitors - big thanks to those who came along.

Lyndhurst is such a lovely village...

complete with a rather nice pub too!

One of my chosen techniques to demo is inking the die.
This works well with solid dies - this one is Floral Heart Accent.
Place your die on a scrap piece of paper and pat liberally with an ink pad.
You can see it clings to all the raised areas.

Transfer it, ink side up, onto your base plate.

Cover with a piece of card, cut/emboss.
This is the result, really effective, the ink remains in the de-bossed areas.

A finished card using this technique.

Could not leave the New Forest without stopping off and seeing the ponies.

That rather dubious sky did lead to a lot of rain!

Take care friends, I'm back tomorrow with this month's Charity Kit.

  6. Hi Christine, A lovely post, these piccies of Lyndhurst look fabulous, I would love to be there.
I'm loving this technique which is virtually the same as the faux letterpress with embossing folders, a beautiful effect.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  7. Hello Christine
What a gorgeous place to have a craft shop. I have never been to the New Forest but it looks like somewhere I need to visit especially if it has the added bonus of a craft shop.
The technique you have used gives a fabulous finish and would gives dies a new lease of life. Thank you for sharing.

  10. Hi Christine,
What a wonderful idea and a fabulous result...I think I'm going to have a look at my dies to see which ones I can practise with :). Wouldn't you believe it, I used to live not too far from the New Forest in Hampshire and had I still been there, I would have been able to join you there. Now, sadly, I'm in Cornwall...don't get me wrong, I love it here but none of the craft fairs come as far as Cornwall, if they do manage to get over the Tamar bridge they seem to stop in Plymouth or Exeter...too far to travel when you have no transport. I'm hoping one day that will all change and the powers that be will realise that there are many, many paper crafters down here in the deep south west :). Until then though, I'll continue to enjoy your blog (and sulk that I can't get to any of the great events like Ally Pally over the weekend) lol.
