Hello friends
As it's Tuesday I thought it might be nice to revisit one of my
previous Tuesday Tip/Techniques.
At my demos I often talk about this tip.
Have you ever looked around your home for different things to die cut?
Books maybe?
Look away if you are offended by cutting up old books - I know many of you may think
this is bordering on criminal!
In my defence, I have just the one - Charles Dickens that I purchased in a charity shop
and I return to it for my projects, so it is a form of recycling....honest!

I think this works particularly well with flower dies, this is Aster Flower Topper
but it could work with many Spellbinders flower dies.
Also using Distress Inks to stencil through makes a real difference.
it appears I should have taken a lot more notice of the wording!
If you want to avoid cutting a book, type out script onto coloured card/paper
and die cut - perhaps it could be a message - Happy Birthday, Get Well Soon etc.

I'm busy preparing today for some TV work next week...
I will keep you posted.
Take care friends.
Morning Christine
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about using books! I have one at hand and keep looking at it asking myself can I do it?...... Time will tell!
I did make me smile reading the wording on the top flower lol. I have these dies and use them a lot

ReplyDeleteHi Christine,

Very good tip. Thank you. The
ReplyDeleteThank you for this great tip. Not sure whether I could bring myself to tear up a good book unless it was falling apart but will try to be stronger! X
ReplyDeleteLovely tip Tuesday Christine xx hazel
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, This post made me chuckle today haha. That is a very good tip to check which 'wording' is showing haha. This is a great idea, although I don't think I could bring myself to 'deface' a book, I love books and have a house full of them haha. I would have to go down the route of typing and printing the script haha.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from Patricia xx
Beautiful! I have been reluctant to cut into books also, but I have found several scrapbook print papers that look like book pages, and I have used those! In fact, I did an ATC swap with 'book pages' as the theme, and I announced that "No books were harmed in the making of this ATC"!
